White BOPP (Permanent) This polypropylene material (similar to mylar) is suitable for most applications. It is 2.6Mil in thickness with a permanent adhesive. This material is impervious to water and oils and is particularly suitable for bath and body products as well as food containers.

It is white and somewhat opaque, but may not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.

Clear BOPP (Permanent) This is the clear version of the Polypropylene (BOPP) material. It has the same waterproof qualities as the White BOPP, but on a 2Mil clear material with permanent adhesive. It provides more of a no label look and is suitable for window stickers.

When using this substrate, it is common to back all printing with White Ink since digital color inks themselves are about 50% transparent.

White Flexible Vinyl (Permanent) The white vinyl is 3.4Mils thick with a permanent adhesive and is very substantial. It is suitable for applications where greater strength and durability is needed or where lengthy exposure to the elements is an issue. For outdoor use.

It is white and more opaque than white BOPP, but it may not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.

Estate #8 Textured (Permanent) This is a great option for wine labels, gourmet foods or high-end beverages. Being a white premium paper stock, it’s not as water-resistant or durable as BOPP but does feature a permanent adhesive.

A laminate will enhance the appearance of the label or add a protective layer. Laminates used are varnish, UV clear coat, or film lamination. The protective coating provides protection against exposure to moisture, chemicals, freezing temperatures, scratches and abrasion. Some film laminates such as the polyester Save 4 Prining offers for its outdoor vinyl protects color somewhat from fading due to sun exposure and outdoor weather conditions.

Matte Finish (Available only with Estate #8) For indoor use only. It provides a matte finish and has a varnish substrate.

Clear Gloss Indoor For indoor use. It provides a clear finish and has a Polypropylene substrate. This is the most commonly used lamination on BOPP labels. It provides nice gloss finish, protects the label and is impervious to water and oils. It is particularly suitable for bath and body products as well as food containers.

Clear Gloss Outdoor Laminate For outdoor use. It provides a clear finish with excellent UV resistance. It is suitable for applications where greater strength, protection and durability is needed or where lengthy exposure to outdoor elements is an issue.

Wind positions are an industry term that indicates how the rolls of labels are produced – so that the labels are facing in the right direction on the roll at the time of application. It is usually only important to specify a wind position when the labels are going to be machine-applied to an end product. This ensures that the applicator is receiving and dispensing the labels in the correct orientation for the container. If the customer is intending to hand-apply each label, wind position usually isn’t important.
